Advanced Trauma-Informed Practice: Neuroscience, Regulation, and Resilience
Go deeper than trauma theory—learn to work with the nervous system and support resilience in yourself and others.
This module gives you an advanced framework for understanding trauma, the nervous system, and how to support regulation and resilience—and we'd love to have you join us. You'll deepen your understanding of Polyvagal theory, explore key trauma-informed principles, and learn how to support your own well-being as a practitioner. This is not just about understanding trauma—it is about showing up with skill, presence, and sustainability.
Grounded in neuroscience, Polyvagal theory, and a relational, embodied approach, this module reframes trauma-informed practice as a sustainable way of being with clients—not just a checklist of techniques. Together, we’ll explore the nervous system, the window of tolerance, and how to work with hyper- and hypo-arousal. You’ll learn how to support safety and stabilization, how to work with grounding, relationship, environment, empowerment, embodiment, and resourcing, and how to recognize and address compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma.
This is not just about working with trauma—it is about working with the nervous system, and how to support resilience in yourself and others.
What you'll learn
We’ll begin with a question: What does it mean to work with trauma in a way that is sustainable—for your clients and for you?
Then, we’ll explore the neuroscience of trauma—the nervous system, Polyvagal theory, and the window of tolerance. You’ll learn how to work with hyper- and hypo-arousal, how to support safety and stabilization, and how to work with the key elements of trauma-informed practice: grounding, relationship, environment, empowerment, embodiment, and resourcing.
We’ll also explore the impact of trauma on the practitioner—compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout. You’ll learn how to recognize the signs in yourself, how to care for yourself, and how to sustain yourself in this work.
This matters because trauma-informed practice is not just about what you do with clients. It is about how you show up—and how you sustain yourself so you can keep showing up.
What Makes This Module Different
Most trauma-informed trainings teach you about trauma. This one teaches you how to work with it—and how to sustain yourself in the process. You are not just learning theory. You are learning a framework for practice that is grounded in neuroscience and centered on your own resilience.
This is not just about understanding trauma. It is about showing up with skill, presence, and sustainability.
The Be K.I.N.D. Embodied Wisdom Methodology
We’ll apply the Be K.I.N.D. Embodied Wisdom Methodology through the lens of trauma-informed practice. Keen Observation helps you see what is happening in your client’s nervous system and in your own. Interoceptive Awareness builds your capacity to sense what is happening in your own body and mind. Nurturing Action supports compassionate, client-centred practice. And Developing Embodied Practices gives you the tools to sustain yourself in this work.
Throughout the module, we’ll learn together. This is a live, cohort-based module, so you are not just learning from me—we are all learning from each other.

Hi, I'm Melanie
For over thirty years, I’ve been where you are—passionate about yoga’s healing potential but disillusioned by trainings that prioritize perfect poses over people. That’s why I founded the Life of Wellness Institute: to create a different kind of teacher training. Your lived experience matters more than handstands here. Nervous system science trumps rigid alignment cues. Ultimately, you’ll learn to build a career that sustains both your students and yourself.
My approach—honed through three decades as a yoga therapist and trauma educator—is what I call sacred pragmatism. No spiritual bypassing. No toxic positivity. Instead, just proven tools: breathwork adapted for real trauma recovery, movement that respects anatomical diversity, and business strategies that let you teach from integrity instead of burnout.
Over the years, hundreds of teachers have used this framework to carve their own paths—in hospitals, nonprofits, and private practices where their work actually changes lives. Now, I’m sharing every lesson I’ve learned so you can skip years of trial and error and step confidently into your calling.
This philosophy isn’t academic for me. It’s the lens I’ve used for over thirty years to understand people, trauma, and what it means to heal. That’s what I’m sharing with you.
Ultimately, this isn’t just about teaching yoga. It’s about creating spaces where healing happens—and making a living while you do it.
No pressure, just clarity!
